I’m THAT girl…

depression family life only me websites work

Hello,

If you haven’t read my previous blog yet, it will explain what I’ve been going through and why I’ve had my ups and downs with my websites and why right now I’m not really as attentive to them as I was in the past. Click here to read it if you haven’t already.

Now, with that said, I’ve realized that all of my spending is only leading to temporary happiness. I realized this with my Nexus 6P as my spending is always on the latest gadgets, specifically phones. I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions but I am making a New Year’s promise to myself that I will not buy another gadget, phone or otherwise, until I pay off ALL of my credit card debt and get my car loan down to $5k. It is at $6.2k right now. I figure THEN not only will it be at least June 2016 and not only will I be 23 years old but I will hopefully be a lot wiser with phones and stuff.
Plus, I may have a new job because Best Buy keeps working me 4 hour work weeks. We will see how many hours I get when school starts up again (week after next) but until then I only have 8 hours on my next paycheck which makes me really sad. I’ll only make $50 for that one with taxes taken out. That’s pathetic and barely covers gas money. >:( & No, I haven’t done anything wrong, in fact, my boss has been praising my work telling me to “Keep it up.” Retail is so annoying like that though but Best Buy (Mobile/Connected Devices in particular) has been the best retail job I’ve ever had, by far. So, I hope I don’t have to leave but I can’t keep working 4 hour work weeks.
On the upside, I won a multiplayer on COD: Ghosts while the computer players were on hardened (hardest level there is). That just made my night tonight. 🙂 😀

Otherwise, I’m still being lazy and not taking my anti-depressants so I’m still depressed. When i do take them regularly I feel a bit better but still not as motivated to work on my sites as I once was. Maybe I’ve grown out of webmaster mode. If I have, I’m not sure what else I want to do as a career.

I’ve also decided, though I haven’t told anyone yet, planning on breaking that news this weekend to my family as they are coming down to visit, that I am going to take a year or whatever off while I decide what I want to do with my life as I don’t want to be a Teacher as it just isn’t for me. Too much work and not paid enough. :/

Well, back to playing COD with my sister. Happy new year!

  1. You just have to do what makes you happy, obviously in a non destructive way, but once you found something that does, stick with it. College is a time for experimentation, while that is often associated with sexual things, it’s also for classes, take a wide range and you may find some that you really enjoy, even if you don’t think you would initially.

Taking a year off can also be good, sometimes you take a year off and discover that college isn’t for you, sometimes you discover what you love. No one can tell you what it is you like, you just need to find it yourself.

  2. Hi! Landed on your blog after ages, thanks to a comment I saw on Cat’s blog!
Glad to see you back into blogging!

    A Nexus 6P! wow!
Taking an year off and finding your own path is a great idea. It is better to explore more paths when you can than regret being stuck with something you don’t like to do!
    All the best, Erin!

  3. Taking a year off school and taking a year long internship or a couple of semester-long internships might be a really good experience, to get on-the-job experience and training. I know my friends did co-op, and learned a lot about about what they may want to do in the future and what they definitely DON’T want to do in the future.
I dabbled in different things in college, but I wish I’d expanded to more things, and took part in more “not major specific” things. Given I have my master’s degree in education, and work in a completely different field, there’s a huge disconnect between what I’m doing and what I was trained to do. I wish I played around with the IT field a little bit while in college!
Good luck, and I hope you find what you’re looking for!
