[REVIEW] Galaxy S8+ Cases

Hey guys!

I’ve had the Samsung Galaxy S8+ since the release date. This one is a replacement model because the original one was being really weird. When I first purchased it I purchased 2 Otterbox cases as I knew I wanted the phone to be as protected as possible and Otterbox has always done that for me. Well, I’ve been collecting cases (slowly) for the S8+ and now I have 4 cases. In this video, I’m going to go over the differences in each and what I like and don’t like about each case.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S8+ in black. As you can see I have 4 cases for this phone. One I just got in the mail and I’m going to be giving you my first impressions on. I’m going to be telling you what I like and don’t like about each of these cases.

Let’s start with the one that’s on my phone, the Rhinoshield bumper case. I heard about this from Erica Griffin in one of her videos. She has consistently praised this brand for having a thin case while also being very durable. As you can see from my pictures, it doesn’t fit all that well. In the first picture you can see near the bixby button that it is bent out. That is just from using it. I haven’t dropped it or anything. It fits nothing like her video. I got it because of the praise she gave it in that video and honestly, I believe it was a waste of money. I don’t like having cases either but I’d rather have a case than have one that doesn’t even fit the phone, how can it protect if it doesn’t protect the phone?

I just did some drop tests from my chair onto carpet and it did stay on my phone then but I’d still be worried about it on hardwood, tile, or cement. It states that it is rated up to 10ft and Erica has tested that out with these cases but I guess I’m just overly paranoid.

Moving on… Let’s review the Otterbox Symmetry cases I have. I have a clear one and a black one. I lost the box to my black one but they are the same case, essentially. I got the clear one so if I did decide to get a skin for the back of my phone I could show it off. Let me put them each on the phone and show them off to you.

There isn’t much I don’t like about the Otterbox cases. They are really protective; the buttons are all really responsive and I don’t ever have issues with them. The only thing I don’t like about them is how bulky they are. You know you have a case on your phone when you are using these. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but to some people it might be.

Lastly, let me review the case I had sent to me. This is a Benuo case. They contacted me and asked them to review a case for them so I said sure. This is a leather case that has 2 places for credit, debit, or id cards on the back. It isn’t as protective to your cards as having a flip out/fold out/pull out case would be but this would be useful for those days where you are going quickly to the store or going over to a friend’s house and don’t want to carry around a bulky wallet with your phone and keys. This is a case I would definitely use. I like thinner cases but at the same time I want something protective.

The few downfalls I see from this case are the fact that it has very little protection for the screen and it only fits 2 cards; one in each pocket. If you try to use more cards, you will be pulling out both cards in that pocket (assuming you try 2 cards) and could possibly lose one of the cards. The screen is curved so protecting it effectively would be difficult but it doesn’t have any lips on the top or bottom so you can at least put the phone face down like you can with my other cases and not worry about the screen. With that being the only downfalls, I have to say I really like this case. It was worth the time and effort reviewing it.

Thanks for reading! I’m so happy I was given the chance to review all of these cases.

  1. Well the main purpose of a case is to protect your phone, of course there is also the esthetic concern, but for me that isn’t too important. The fact that it is a little bit bulky may be a problem for the first few days or maybe one or two weeks but after that it will become a normal thing and I probably won’t even feel the difference.

  2. Thank you for this post! I am very interested in this model of smart phone and I want to know many things about it. I have find many reviews of screen, Internet and many other performances of this phone, but this is the first review of case for this phone!

  3. I’ll be buying a Samsung Galaxy S8 quite soon and now thanks to you I’m interested in buying an Otterbox Symmetry case and a Benuo case. They look beautiful (especially the Benuo case, it looks so luxurious and elegant). I’m new to your blog and I think you give amazing reviews, keep up the good work!

  4. Thanks for the post. It seems to me that the Otterbox Symmetry case is the best option for protecting the Samsung Galaxy S8+ on a daily basis, but the Benuo case is better for times when you need to run a few errands.

  5. My friend had Galaxy S7 and quite frankly I don’t see much difference, not in shape but in performance. In smartphones, you’d get to a point where everything added is overkill. For an example, what app that would lag on S7 and would run smoothly on s8+ ? there’s none. Adding more features should be the point, improving the camera. Not just changing the bezels of a phone!

  6. The primary reason for using a case is for the protection of the phone. I know the importance, and the two phones I’m currently using are well protected by it because in the past I’ve fallen a victim to rough screen & damage of phone body due to lack of a case. From the review, the best case I think every Samsung galaxy s8 owner should go for is the last one “Benuo”. Firstly, it’s made with a leader. Over the years leader case are known to be well protected to phone and beautiful to behold. Secondly, it has space for your cards and this feature makes me like it even more.
It’s the case I will go for in future when I get a Samsung s8.

  7. I really want one. One of the most important thing of the phones is the screen. I want it to be protected. I have had times before, where my phone has been dropped because it hasn’t been protected before. It has been a pain to get it repaired and expensive also. You have written some great tips in this article.

  8. Ah. I am quite jealous that you’ve got the S8, I am still on my good old S7, haha. Anyway, that’s a very good review. I will bookmark the page because I plan on switching up as soon as my current contract expires – that’s next month. I am always very picky when it comes to different cases because I want it to be a perfect fit, for my phone and also for me. Usually, though, I get the cased one where it covers the back but also the front so my screen is extra safe.

  9. Cases are very important for the protection of your phone. I think a leather case does not protect very much your cell phone, especially when the cell phone falls down.
I would recommend other types of cases for the protection of your screen and to avoid any scratches on your phone.
